"For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever, amen." Romans 11:36
Four years ago today we welcomed 12 month old Juan Gabriel ("Juanito") into our home and our hearts. My joy was beyond description and I was not the only one grinning from ear to ear all day as the fruit of our efforts was at last sitting before us, in flesh and blood! What amazing memories...
Juanito lapped up his weekend as the sole baby (first and last time!) with several doting mothers before 3 hermanos arrived and things got busy...as they've stayed ever since. Although, now we laugh at imagining having 4 or 5 kids as being "busy". These days if that's all we have in a home, it's just plain weird! (FYI, to make 17 or 18 babies seem "few", just invite the other homes over to play for a few hours. It's definitely all in perspective!)
Today was appropriately memorable in its own way. We started off the day with a photo shoot of 14 toddlers + a baby (more on that later!!), ended it making a huge decision about the future direction of HDA II and the homes themselves, really, and in between I raced to keep up with meetings and too many other pressing items. Tough stuff! I'm so grateful for a great administrative team and that my parents are here now to walk through the decisions with me. Please pray for us to have abundant wisdom and guidance as we continue seeking the best for our kids.
Better go as tomorrow between 8am and 8pm I have no less than SIX meetings already scheduled and 2 sets of doctors appointments for kids, and plan to be at HDA II and III. Never a dull moment!!
Does it feel like it's been four years, duh, YES! It seems like about 40, and surely I have gray hairs somewhere to prove it. And of course I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world. =)

That cake is so cute! Did your mom make it?
Actually I've been thinking that 11 kids at Casa II probably doesn't seem like very many to them after having at least 14 before!
Actually some tias made that amazing cake for a triple birthday party a few years back, including for our first kid, now that I think of it...
Yeah, CDA II seems really quiet when the oldest are out or the youngest are sleeping, leaving just a few kids! But it's a blessing to have the luxury of caring for them better that way.
Yay Jen :)
You are so inspiring!
Have a great day,
Katrina :)
